It doesn't have to take long all you have to do is remember to relax often. Just a minute here and there will make all the difference.
So lets do a little right now.
As you read this allow yourself to feel your feet on the ground. Just move your attention to the soles of your feet and notice how they feel. Feel the support of the ground under your feet.
Now feel the support of the chair you are sitting on and allow yourself to relax into the chair feel how it supports your body and Let Go into that support.
Next feel all around your face. Allow the muscles of your forehead to soften and relax. Let go in your jaw and cheeks.
Now take a moment to remember someone you LOVE feel the LOVE in your heart and allow yourself to bask in that feeling of LOVE allow yourself to SMILE.
Can you feel a change in your body ? I certainly can.
Science is only just beginning to document all the benefits of relaxation but you don't need scientific proof you have your own internal proof.
Learn to feel into your body and relax and whenever you find yourself stuck in traffic or waiting in a queue you can use that delay to relax and recharge your battery. Instead of dreading delays you will be looking forward to opportunities to relax and enjoy life even more.
The Satsang teacher Catherine Ingram explained violence, injustice and war as being due to the fact that most people's Buddha's are asleep. I love this compassionate view of mankind. However I feel it is more correct to say that we are asleep to our Buddha, Christ or Higher Nature. I feel there is one Higher Consciousness and we are mostly asleep to its presence.
Last night I awakened at the end of a very vivid dream on this topic.
In the dream I was being taught about how generations ' stay asleep' to our Higher Nature.
In the dream I saw the same street in different lifetimes and I could see that the people were completely engrossed in the appearance of this world with no awareness of their Higher Nature.
Then I was ' told ' that it doesn't need to be like that, we can awaken to our Higher Consciousness all we have to do is ASK. Ask the Buddha, the Christ, what ever name we want to call Higher Consciousness just ASK It to awaken us to It's presence within us and It will. We are meant to Awaken it is our destiny but it is up to us to ask because awakening will never be imposed on anyone.
"The easiest thing to do in the universe is to love
everyone. That is, once we learn what love is, it's the
easiest thing to do. It takes tremendous effort not to
love everyone, and you see the effort being expended in
everyday life. But when we love, we're at one with all.
We're at peace and everything falls into line perfectly.""
I arranged a Reconnective Meet-up yesterday. There are quite a few Reconnective Healers in Ireland now
but we don't have any ' group' to belong to, so there are were no gatherings ( that I knew of ) for us to meet and share our experiences in this 'Healing ' method. Seven of us met for a few hours yesterday and it was amazing to get together and share our stories. Stories of healing and our personal stories of how we had found our way to Reconnective Healing. Everyone promised to write at least one account for our next month and I'm looking forward to sharing some here.
One of the big benefits of meeting with others doing this work is the chance to share our experience, it is good to talk of healing and other experiences within a setting where this is normal, where no one is shocked by miracles. It is good to be able to express openly that we are more than a physical body , that we are vibrating energy and that we can influence ourselves and others through healing frequencies.
More and more I am finding evidence of our evolution in terms of healing and consciousness. I feel a big shift has happened on many levels and we will see more evidence of this shift in how we heal and in how our level of consciousness rises.
I don't often write about my Reconnective work but yesterday's meeting inspired me to share some of the benefits discovered through scientific research ( my old training ).
So far, there has been almost two decades of active research by scientists and universities around the world on Reconnective Healing. Several of these research studies were recently published in a book in English by Konstantin Korotkov entitled Science Confirms Reconnective Healing.
One of these studies catalogues findings of a double-blind test carried out by Dr. Korotkov on Russian Olympians and world-class athletes. The athletes were measured before and after Reconnective Healing was administered. They were measured for pulse rate, heart rhythm, energy reserves, speed of recovery and blood parameters over a series of studies.
The results showed that early with all participants there was a rapid positive effect. Half of those who received a Reconnective Healing session had their energy parameters significantly increase and 10 days later their improvement became even more statistically significant. Further studies showed a decrease in blood pressure, increase in metabolic, immune, antitoxin and antioxidant activity in the body, improved cardiovascular function and showed improvements in the DNA.
Dr. Korotkov said, “This signifies the long-lasting effect of Reconnective Healing and its significance for well-being and preparation of athletes.”
Recoctive Healing is not just for athletes Conclusions
The book also confirms Reconnective Healing has significant, long term positive effects on
Psychological parameters, such as tension, depression, aggression, fatigue and confusion
The immune system, with significant positive changes at the basic cellular level
Increased antioxidant and antitoxic activity
Physical body energy, including decreased blood pressure at rest and after exercise\
Increase in mental power and decreased signs of stress
I love that science confirms our personal findings as healers.
The message that I share with you is that I love, honour, and celebrate you. I encourage you to fully embrace the divine love that you are, by becoming one with your creator. I urge you to fully enjoy yourself through this adventure of remembering the grandness and uniqueness, as well as the gift that you are. Let go of all that you have perceived about yourself as the truth, and see the magnificent wonder that you are, for each and every one of you is a blessing to the world, Universe and all of creation.
Be at peace and know that all is in total alignment in support of you in every way. What you feel, at times, when you feel discomfort, is you, gently nudging you with the encouragement of the Universe saying, "We know you can do it", for we know how special, powerful, and beautiful you are. Now, listen to yourself and let this present for you. Let us birth you into the truth and freedom of being and knowing yourself. Let's celebrate your magnificence.
You are constantly changing as the Universe is constantly changing in total support of you. Feel our love for you through these beautiful times of communion and remembering.
Here is a very interesting interview ( at least I found it to be fascinating ) about his ' appearance ' on this planet. William
I was looking for images to reflect self esteem and this one really appealed .
First of all because how we see ourselves effects everything about us, when our self esteem is low we find it very difficult get into action. I know this well as I have to work on my own self esteem often.
Sometimes my energy gets low I feel a bit depressed and think there is no point in trying any more.
When this happens I'm usually stuck in low self esteem ( often without even realising what has happened).
When I wake up to the problem I can usually see a series of thoughts that have been sabotaging my energy.
Thoughts like "Who do you think you are to teach ? " or maybe Children should be seen not heard " ( and even though I'm well past childhood this thought imprisons me often ).
We all have challenges in life and working on improving our self esteem is really important for without good self esteem we will not have the courage to share our work , share our dreams, share our own journey with others.
I find that it is good to remind myself that I am after all a work in progress, a regular person on my life's quest to figure it all out !
Like all of us here, there are many more questions than answers and the answers that come are usually temporary insights that usually need updating as I learn more. Just like this world which is always changing so the answers that seemed so perfect for last year no longer fit this years questions.
I find this very challenging, the idealist in me wants to find a final answer, a permanent solution to the human condition. Realising that it is a journey, that new questions and new answers will always be the way here in this dimension somehow helps. I can relax again, start afresh, become open to new insights and accept myself for the searcher and seeker that I am. No need to be perfect or to have all the answers it is Ok to
just have lots of new questions, or even the same questions framed differently.
Dr Fehmi who developed techniques for training the mind discovered in his research that when we pay attention to space and or silence our brains produce synchronous alpha waves. Alpha waves tend to predominate when we are almost asleep and also when we meditate. There has been a lot of study done in recent years on the benefits of training our minds to be more in an ' alpha' state rather than in higher frequencies such as beta waves. Spending more time in alpha frequencies has a very positive effect on our physiology .
It lowers high blood pressure
Lowers the levels of blood lactate, reducing anxiety attacks
Decreases any tension-related pain, such as, tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems
Increases serotonin production that improves mood and behaviour.
Improves the immune system
Increases the energy level, as you gain an inner source of energy.
These are just the physical benefits , there are also deep emotional benefits , calmness, peace and joy become your daily companions.
When you learn to love the peace that arises in stillness you have found a home where ever you go.
Even in a busy city you can pay attention to the silence that interpenetrates all the sounds.
But if you are lucky you can spend time in deep silence away from traffic where it is even easier to sink into your own connection to the mysterious wonder of space and silence.
Whenever someone presses your buttons, when you find yourself judging them and being upset, stop for a moment sink down into your body and acknowledge that they are enlightening you. They are waking you up to some hidden (or maybe not so hidden ) beliefs or blocks that you do not like within yourself.
Whenever we are judging someone else we are trying to point our finger away from some aspect of ourselves that we are not conscious of. So when we judge someone harshly we are really judging ourselves and that is one reason why judging anyone feels bad. We cannot be ' in love ' when we are judging negatively.
I have been reading Lester Levenson's teachings again and he reminds us that there really is no separation between you and me, that our separateness is an illusion and this means when I'm criticising you I'm doing the same to me and that feels terrible. The bad feeling may be unconscious I may consciously feel puffed up and right in my judging but this masks my deeper feeling of hurt or unworthiness which is the real reason I'm criticising you in the first place.
Stop for a minute and think about the last time you were being critical or judgemental. Recall the occasion in detail relive it if you will. Now meditate on how you felt while in that conversation ( whether it was an internal or external conversation ). If you are like me you will realise that you felt bad, cut off from love. We do not like cutting ourselves off from our true loving nature, so now that you know why you were feeling bad you can do something about it.
Start by forgiving yourself, forgive yourself for being judgemental you didn't realise how damaging it was.
Decide to love the innocent you, to nurture the hurt aspect of you that was somehow threatened, love her heal her, tell her she is OK , she IS Loved . Reassure her that everything happens for a reason life is always working for us ( even when it seems like the opposite is true). Once you have done this then thank the person or situation that made you judgemental, thank them for awakening you to another internal block.
You don't have to figure it all out the forgiveness brings you back into alignment with your True Loving Nature and this Love will heal all.
I know this works because I use it whenever I find my buttons being pressed and it always brings peace and often brings insights I could not have imagined.
T'ai Chi could ( in my opinion ) also be called mindful movement. As we practice our attention is trained in presence, presence to the sensations in and around our bodies. Through the practice we become attuned to subtle sensations which we were previously unaware of. We learn to listen with our whole being. This takes time and effort but this expenditure of our energy is well rewarded. We learn to appreciate our days, to notice sounds and sights which flash by unappreciated unless we have developed a mindful awareness. This life is to be savoured like a delicious meal. Time takes on a new slower quality when we become mindful in our movement it can even feel sometimes that it has expanded. I notice this especially when we practice a T'ai Chi walk, this mindful walking really changes our perspective and makes me conscious of how correct Einstein was when he showed that time is relative.
You don't need to be a T'ai Chi adept to experience mindful movement just take a few minutes to walk very slowly, mindfully lifting one foot and feeling the presence of the weighted foot on the ground, then consciously lowering the raised foot and rolling it from heel to toe as you gently bring it into contact with the ground. Repeat this slow lifting and lowering of your feet while consciously feeling your whole body. It helps too to shift your vision to a peripheral mode of attention as this will help to relax you into your walk.
Give yourself a few minutes today to experience this mindful relaxation you will be glad you did.
A Big Welcome to all the new T'ai Chi students what a term this is, there seems to be a great upsurge in interest in our art.
This is not surprising when you consider the benefits of some T'ai Chi practice.
Relaxation , strength, stamina, patience, serenity to mention just a few of the benefits.
The longer I train at this Art the more in awe I become at it's subtle beauty and depth.
Once again I feel like a beginner as it reveals aspects to me that I never imagined were there. The more I practice the more I see and feel.
I want to proclaim out loud for all to hear.
This Art heals your mind and your body, this Art softens your touch, this Art reveals beauty in all aspects of life.
We are so blessed to live in a time when these ancient teachings have become available to anybody who is willing to invest the time to learn and practice.
So Welcome , set some time aside each day to nourish your body and your mind.
You will discover your own wisdom in the silence of this Art.
You will come to love and appreciate your own body and mind.
You will come home to yourself and find it to be a great homecoming well worth the journey.
I'm having a challenging time with my blog posts, yesterday I just couldn't get my I Pad to publish the one I had written ( you might have noticed a blank one ! ) and just a minute ago today's got deleted while I was adding a link.
Here goes again.
I went to Dublin on Friday to help at the IAC introductory lecture and also to be of help on Saturday morning. It was great to hear Analaura again as it brought all the CPD teaching back clearly. Someone asked about how we recognise deceased people in our OBE's , she said that we often recognise them by their energy and also that deceased people usually appear younger than when they died, they mostly seem middle aged. Analaura explained that one of the ways we can tell the difference between a lucid dream and an OBE is that people such as our parents who died when they were old appear middle aged in OBE's . Now I found that really interesting and it has thrown a new light on experiences I had previously classified as lucid dreams as in Stick insects worms and my mother, In this one I don't describe my mother as young but that was how she appeared riding the bicycle ( which interestingly enough I never saw her do in real life). More about Lucid Dreams and OBE'
It is so interesting for me to reread these accounts now that I have heard Analaur's lectures. It really shows me the importance of furthering my study of these topics and encourages me to keep up my efforts at lucid dreaming and ' OBEing ' .
FRIDAY EVENT! Learn more about Out of Body Experiences with Analaura
1'st Time in Ireland
Friday, February 7, 2014
19 -29 Morehampton Road
Take note - this event is on Friday
As human beings, we are much more than just our physical bodies. We are souls, capable of experiencing other dimensions of reality. Analuara, Director of the International Academy of Consciousness (IAC) in London, will explain what happens when we have an out-of-body experience (OBE).
Analaura has a background in Psychology and Languages with degrees in both disciplines and years of experience as an organisational psychologist and practising group dynamics and family therapy.
She will introduce the sciences of Conscientiology and Projectiology which were developed to further our understanding of our nonphysical world and explain why, as human beings, we are in fact much more than just our physical bodies. We are consciousnesses (souls, spirits) that are capable of experiencing other dimensions of reality. She will provide an overview of the IAC’s research methodology which emphasizes the importance of having our own personal experiences of the OBE and related paranormal phenomena. She will describe the OBE, giving some personal anecdotes, and explain why it plays a crucial role in our evolution as multidimensional beings.

“We’re at the point in our evolution that we all have to become conscious. This is a time of revolution. There’s no holding back. So I’m about tearing down the monastery walls and seeing the whole world as the monastery, as the practice, as the spiritual temple. What we’re all working on is this very being, this very life. This is the temple, it has no walls.“
- Genpo Roshi
I'm in Dublin today for the IAC meeting. We had a great turnout at the Buddhabag gathering so I'm looking forward to this morning and to meeting those who are taking the course.
Its strange to be writing on my Ipad, when I'm at home the laptop is there and I just blog away on it. Using this ' machine' reminds me of my trip to Portugal and that was IAC related too. I promised myself then that I'd work on my IPad skills I guess I just need more trips away !
Its just great to be off in Dublin so looking forward to the adventure of getting to know new people and meeting my daughter Jo later.
It is good to be in the IAC atmosphere too Listening to Analaura speak inspires me to worh on my lucidity snd aim for more lucid dreams and OBEs.
I posted this emotional scale a few days ago since then I have had a few questions about it from people who had never heard of the scale so to answer them here are a few thoughts on the scale and why I think it is a good tool.
Many years ago long before I had taken up the practice of T'ai Chi or meditation depression was a regular emotional experience for me. I often felt hopeless in the face of this state , even contemplated suicide.
I felt lost and didn't know how to deal with these emotions that would overwhelm me and turn me inwards in a negative spiral. Thank God for self help books and libraries where I found refuge and answers.
I can still remember the photo in a holistic healing book of two people standing in roll back position ( the video above shows roll back push and press as a partner exercise) as soon as I saw that phopo something inside resonated I just knew that I had to learn T'ai Chi.
I remember reading my first T'ai Chi books and loving tales of people living joyful fulfilled lives, tales of people recovering from illnesses of mind and body through the practice. Now I can fully agree with these stories. Depression is not a state I experience any more, sure I get a little down at times but this is when I have overdone things and can be quickly remedied. Black moods and days are a thing of the past. Through the practice of T'ai Chi My mind has opened to so much more of this life experience, opened to books and teachings that I never would have contemplated in my pre T'ai Chi days.
The practice opens the physical body and this opening effects the mind in a positive way. Somehow it teaches you to recognise that you are not your thoughts or your emotions , it teaches you to transcend these aspects of yourself. Then knowing that you are more than thoughts and emotions , knowing that there is an eternal transcendent aspect which is always present always watching unaffected by the passing thoughts and emotions, you learn to ride the emotions, to watch the thoughts and the movements of your mind.
In time you learn that you have much more power over your thoughts and emotions than you ever thought possible. You come to realise that how you feel is actually up to yourself because you know that you can direct your thoughts and feelings. You are becoming more and more the master of your mind .
You can now look at the emotional scale and see where you stand moment to moment and by choosing to direct your thoughts you can move up or down the scale.
You now have power in your life , power to choose positive emotions and a happier life. You learn to know yourself from the inside out and knowing yourself you can take the appropriate steps to keep yourself in a higher emotional state.
